CommentsThe site looks good!!! Keep up the good work, Sean. Train hard -- Sensei Mark
CommentsGreat site ! Butch TC
CommentsI'm posting here for the first time myself. I put a guest book on the site so we get to know a little bit about our visitors (members or not). Guests can use this to plug their sites. I will even link to them if requested.---Sean
CommentsI think this is a great idea. Well done. Tim Swanson
CommentsWhen and where is the Kanku BBQ??? Miss you hope to see you guys soon. Train hard and stay healthy. Sheri Blauvelt (retired Nidan 1987)
CommentsHello Sheri, I also would like to know when and where the Kanku BBQ will be held this year! I think I will set a date and hold it at Yucaipa Regional Park in Yucaipa, Ca. (If nobody comes up with some alternative soon!) Sensei Rod....
CommentsNice Site. Just wanted to let everyone know that Sean is actively promoting this site during his daily work visits. :-) Hello to all from http://qi-journal.com (us "soft" taijiquan guys)
CommentsSensei Rod and Sensei Mark, the web site is great keep up the awesome job. You all have come a long way. Hello to Darrell and Aaron congratulations on your ranks. Glad you all are doing well.
CommentsVery cool, like the updates. photo gallery is great I have to find some photos and get them to you Rod. (you should've left Erin in the pic with me it would've improved it. ha) When's the BBQ? Sheri Paine (Blauvelt) Odd looking at Paine...
CommentsGood site. I found some of the pages interesting. It might be better if you placed the add comments area at the end of the guestbook instead of the beginning. More people might take the time to look and respond then. (you asked for comments!) I liked the photos, more would be fun.
CommentsMoving "Add Your Comments" to bottom
CommentsLooks good this way. Let's see if it generates any more use!
CommentsThis is a grand site. It smacks of dedicated practitioners of the arts. This site is wholly dedicated to training. Obviously a tool and not just a flashy, colourful site. Well, cheers from across the pond. Duncan Oh, smashing "Tribute to America". I fancy your Can-Do determination. Keep it up Yanks!
Commentsdo you have any Japan ninja suits like in the movies me and my mother can't find any at the website ? Scott

CommentsRod, I just reread your bio on the website. Thank you for your succinct summary of our school, and your purpose in relation to it. It was very articulate (coming from you, I'm not surprised) in explaining what I believe our school represents. Also, it refreshes my memory of my experience in the school. I was 13 to 19 when I was strongly involved in the school. I was wearing the white, green, and perhaps brown belts when sensei's Steve and Dan, and probably others, traveled to Riverside to sit on the grading council. I fought Shihan Dan Lane when he was a 4th degree (maybe 5th), and was very impressed. He had such incredible accuracy and speed and control in his kumite that I recognized his beyond-average "mastery" of karate. I recently came across my "Mas Oyama School of Karate" promotion/membership card. Please put a hotlink to your bio in both my bio and especially my dojo page. Also, it was not user friendly to have the comments page at the bottom, but not all the way to the bottom to start typing on. Just lower it to the very bottom of visibility of the page, and/or add one to the top. I can't press return for a new line in this box like I could an email. Please tell our outstanding web master, sensei Sean, and ask him if these things could be improved.
CommentsThanks for the input, I can guess who you are, but would rather you e-mail me your name so I can address your ideas on improvement.
CommentsWell, that just shows you what different people think. I just moved the "Add your Comments" field to the bottom by overwhelming requests. However, since it is an embedded field that edit the website, I can only have one instance on a page and it can only be top or bottom. Sorry for the inconvenience. Sean
CommentsHello My name is Armando Jemmott of the Dai Ichi Shotokan Karate Institute. Today I met Sensei Steve McLaughlin and we had a very pleasant lunch together. He gave me the address to the site and I'm here to support whatever traditional karate people do. My site is at www.shotokanway.net and my mother org. is at www.santenkarate.com Please feel free to visit us and I hope to collaborate with you soon and often. Sincerely, Armando Jemmott ITKI, ISKA, ITKF
CommentsSensei Jemmott, Thank you for your visit to our site. We took a look at your site as well. Very nice. Sensei Rod seems to remember meeting you in past years (he is getting old and could be wrong, but retired cops DO remember some of those things!) We wish we had found a message area to post to on your site. We have long been friends of Shotokan Karate and it's Riverside Karateka. Our best wishes and good health and training to you all......... OSU!..............
CommentsThank you very much for your response. My team is working frantically to get our site together and rolling. I'm bad with names, but not faces, so When I meet Sensei Rod again I'll put it together. I do know some of your older guys, Sensei Kimball, The Bech brothers on a personal basis and met with Sensei Steve once before having lunch. I would like to visit one of you dojos during one of your sessions or maybe go to one of your get together to reacquaint and to meet new people as well. My direct email is ajemm9100@aol.com or you're welcome to place it on your site again. I'll be visiting from time to time. Thanks again. Armando Jemmott
CommentsI like the site. Denis
CommentsHello my friends, I have recently been advised of this website and thought I would take a look. Funny how ironic and full circle life and its meanings are. It is great to see all talking from so long ago. Take care, Tamara Mowry (Hernandez)
CommentsI'm glad to see those who had inspired me while growing up in my Karate life like Sensei's Tamara and Ken Kimbal still have Kyokushin on their minds. It just reinforces how strong our system is not only physically but mentally. Keep the interests coming. Mark Ramirez (NiDanDep2)
CommentsRod: I'm pleased to see you are training. I would love to have your school participate at our next tournament. Too long apart & too close to not share. Give me a call (909)237-5515, John Gispanski Godan Neko Kai Karate Rvsd. Ca. E-mail address pardus5@earthlink.net OSU!!!!!
CommentsHello my friends! (I stole the opening from Tamara. It sounded great when I read it.) Sean, Rod and everyone else who has worked on this site, it's very impressive! The comments are wonderful to read as are the photos to see. They have brought back many, many fond memories. It underscores how negligent I've been in keeping in touch with such good people. I hope the holidays find you all healthy, happy and with a firm unshaking spirit. Craig MacD. craigmac@sbcglobal.net

Remote Name: 69.228.118.254 CommentsHi; my name is Dana Bennett. I have been a student of Dan Laynes since 1977. I received my Shodan from Steve Senne in 1982 and I currently hold the rank of Yodan in the School of the Cat. I am still actively training and living in Northern California (Mt. Shasta area). We have a small group training here. I live about 3 and 1/2 hours from Arcata where I believe you have a school. I would be very interested in getting together and training with anyone in the neighborhood. I tried e-mailing Nick Bertell but I don't believe I was successful. I also attempted calling but the phone number on your web site has been disconnected. P.S. I found your site by accident and have enjoyed reading about some people that I have not seen in many years.
Remote Name: 69.228.118.254 CommentsHey, Dana Bennett here again. I just realized that I didn't leave any way for you to contact me. So, you can reach me at drbennet@chw.edu thank you Dana
