The Kanku
The Kanku, which is the symbol of Kyokushinkai Karate, is formed by holding both hands aloft over the head with the thumb and index finger touching. Meditation is done while gazing out through the space made by the thumb and index fingers. The Kanku is also used as an advanced fighting posture. The posture is known for its passiveness. In this posture you do not attack, all attacks are accepted and flowed with. This passive stance reflects the non violence of the way. |
